*Amathia*, an ancient Greek concept associated with ignorance and wilful blindness, shows how even intelligent people can make disastrous choices, especially when power is involved.
Paranoid Marko has little talent for love poems and takes his rebellion to the streets. He ruins whatever he touches and suspects everyone, even his closest friends. Recently fallen in love, he decides to face his demons. Together with his girlfriend, he invites his estranged older brother Dragan back to their small Serbian hometown.
Known as a defender of free speech, Dragan is a charismatic media mogul and skilled manipulator with a talent for twisting the truth. Corruption has helped him gain control of Balkan Media. Marko hopes to expose his distant brother, who is always looking for new strings to pull, and believes he knows exactly what Dragan is planning.
Estonia-based Hungarian cinematographer Péter Kollányi (“Frank”) uses tight close-ups to heighten the tension in Dean Radovanović’s political drama. The Serbian-Estonian co-production arrives amid a deep crisis in Serbian cinema, with filmmakers raising concerns over stalled public funding and political pressure.
