Samo, a gay man facing an unplanned pregnancy with a woman overseas, reunites with his narcissistic mother at a remote forest cabin to confront their toxic past. Amidst a drug-fueled sexual affair with his former childhood bully, he struggles to decide if he should embrace fatherhood or break the cycle of inherited family sin. In Samo’s warped reality, omnipresent hornets gain an evil power, forcing him to confront his mother with fire and an axe to extract the brutal truth of their relationship.
This undeniably inventive and boldly intimate film is likely to be one of the most talked-about debuts of 2026. The visually stunning indie has clearly been influenced by Xavier Dolan: it is even shot in a 1:1 square format like Dolan’s “Mommy”. Come enjoy this daring queer story featuring an exciting mix of music and folk songs.
